With content frequently being added to our website, I would like to provide a tip that some may find useful for keeping abreast of our various web activities.
Many of us use Google for searching on the internet. But, have you considered personalizing the Google search page using iGoogle?
Using iGoogle you can create a customized tabbed Google homepage. You customize the page by adding web gadgets and RSS feeds. Web gadgets are small web applications that can be programed to perform a number of things. Some can display weather forcasts and radar maps, monitor your email or, be a game like Bejeweled. These gadgets are primarily used to pull information from sites on the internet and bring them in a compact version to your customized iGoogle page. RSS feeds are summarized news feeds published by a website.
The example below depicts the iGoogle tab on my page that I created to monitor NYUC web activities. From right to left it displays the first few images from our Flickr photostream, videos from our YouTube channel. and the RSS feed from the NYUC website.

Netvibes is another popular website that provides services similar to iGoogle. Netvibes has gadgets that provide many of the same functions as those found on iGoogle. Netvibes forte however, is to pull together RSS feeds. With Netvibes you can also share your feeds with others by creating a public page for yourself.
Displayed below is my Netvibes NYUC tab that is monitoring the same content as the iGoogle page above. As you can see, the Netvibes gadgets work a little differently.
