When did you join the club?

Spring of 2002

 When did you start riding?

October 10, 2001

 What got you started?

I had tried a unicycle alone, when I was about 8.  Ten minutes later, without any helper, I was convinced it was impossible.  Over 30 years later, I needed a challenge and somehow unicycling came to mind.  I did a search on the Internet and read everything I could find.  Soon I had ordered a unicycle.  It arrived on October 10th.  I put it together and tried to sit on it using the back porch.  Still impossible!  But I persisted and after about 4 weeks was bopping around here and there.

Why do you love to unicycle?

It's a personal technical challenge with plenty of room to grow.  Since it doesn't have the massive overhead that sailing or similar sports have, you can ride nearly every day.  The unicycling community is full of really nice people, too!  They are full of adventure and enthusiasm and have become good friends.

What types of unicycling do you do?

Primarily freestyle and off-road, with some road riding mixed in.

What kinds of unicycles do you own?

20" freestyle, 20" trials, 26" off-road, 29", 36", 20" ultimate, 24" ultimate, and a few pieces of a 5' giraffe.

 General Comments

I also build and service unicycles; if you are looking for one, or need to fix yours up, let me know!
